Do you feel that natural chemistry? Next on our November lineup is Pinoy Scientist Roberth Riggs Rondilla, a college instructor of Chemistry at Southern Luzon State University and a PhD student at the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom currently taking up a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Riggs graduated Cum Laude from the University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He stayed on with his alma mater, receiving his Master of Science major in Chemistry soon after. During this period, he was a Graduate Researcher at the Research Center for Natural and Applied Sciences. His work there involved extracting and evaluating the biological activities of compounds in natural products such as fungi and plants. Once he had completed his Master’s degree, he became a Senior Science Research Specialist at the Department of Science and Technology – Industrial Technology Development Institute, National Metrology Laboratory. Over the course of three years, he developed and validated methodologies to evaluate chemical content in various local products.
In 2020, Riggs began teaching at the Southern Luzon State University as an Instructor of Chemistry at the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. He then began his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2022 at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde where he also worked as a Research Assistant studying seaweed fermentation.

- He is an old soul. He has a collection of vinyl albums back at home and in the UK. He loves listening to them on his turntable when he needs a boost for his spirit.
- He’s a Super fan of Drag Race PH! He just loves their art – proving that Filipinos have world-class talent. Kaya dapat pakaaak!!! His bias for S03 John Fedellaga.
- He reads tarot and oracle cards. They are his tools for deeper insights and valuable meanings when assessing a certain situation. They guide him through his self-reflection and daily mindfulness meditation.
