Ushering in a lovely start of the week is Lovely Andeo, who is currently taking up her Master of Applied Science in Aerospace Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto.
Lovely graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman with a Bachelor of Science in Physics, magna cum laude. As an undergraduate student, she was part of the Data and Computation Laboratory headed by Pinoy Scientists founder Dr Reina Reyes. There, she contributed to the generalization of satellite data analysis through supervised machine learning models and geospatial technologies, as well as investigated the potential applications of neuromorphic event-based vision in space technology and situational awareness.
As a graduate researcher at the Toronto Robotics and AI laboratory, Lovely conducts research on AI-driven systems for autonomous space applications. She is also the founder and chairperson of the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space in the Philippines (SEDS Philippines), a nationwide space organization with 1000+ members that aims to promote space exploration and space technology in the country.
Some fun facts about Lovely:
- She was born in Bicol, grew up in Laguna, went to Taguig for SHS, and Quezon City for undergrad. Somehow, it felt like the next place for her to be after that was outside the Philippines, so here she is now in Canada!
- She almost never rewatches shows/movies nor rereads books (so she often lends them to her friends!)
- She loves horses! One of her many goals in life is to have a mini ranch.
