Taking over this week is Melvin See, Science Research Specialist at The Medical City’s Institute of Personalized Molecular Medicine!
Melvin graduated summa cum laude from the BS Molecular Biology and Biotechnology program of the University of the Philippines Diliman. Thereafter, he worked as a research associate at the UP Marine Science Institute’s Molecular Genetics and Marine Genomics Laboratory, as well as a stem cell technologist at the Makati Medical Center’s Cellular Therapeutics Center.
Melvin then took up a Master’s degree in Biotechnology and Enterprise at the University of Manchester where he also undertook a research project characterizing stable and unstable Chinese hamster ovary cell lines for the production of monoclonal antibodies.
Today, Melvin also works as a consultant at St. Patrick’s Medical Systems where he is a lead scientist and infection control expert in developing a “unitary ultraviolet germicidal irradiation” (UVGI) germicidal air exchanger.
Some fun facts about Melvin!
- He prefers using a paper map while traveling.
- He has been a fan of the NBA and LA Lakers since 2000.
- His love for science was inspired by Jurassic Park.
