Reneepearl Kim Sales

For this week’s feature, we have Pinoy Scientist Reneepearl Kim Sales, a PhD candidate in Evidence-based Health Care at the Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare, Bond University, Australia.

Kim received her Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from the University of Santo Tomas. She moved to Liverpool soon after to study International Public Health at the Liverpool School of Tropical Health. She graduated from her Master’s degree with merit from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom in 2016. She spent several years in research, covering a variety of topics. Notably, she helped the Mindanao cluster with the development of the 2017-2022 National Unified Health Research Agenda. She has also conducted policy and impact analyses, protocol development, and much more in the realm of public health, moving up from a research assistant to a principal investigator in her most recent projects. In 2023 for instance, she was a principal investigator in the development of the 2023-2028 National Unified Health Research Agenda, calling back to one of her first research positions. Throughout the years, she has also participated in numerous groups such as the Alliance for Improving Health Outcomes Philippines and the Health Promotion Program of the National Institutes of Health.

Kim is currently a PhD candidate at Bond University, Australia where she is studying Evidence-based Health Care at the Institute of the same name. She is investigating non-antibiotic-based strategies for primary care acute respiratory disease treatment. In her spare time, Kim has also served as a Women in Global Health board member since January 2025.
