Rapha graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southeastern Philippines, after which he took on a Master of Science in Electronics and Computer Systems at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand.

Today, Rapha is a full-time faculty member at ADDU’s School of Engineering and Architecture as well as a researcher at the Ateneo de Davao Centre for Renewable Energy and Appropriate Technologies (CREATE).

For his thesis on green hydrogen, Rapha used statistical analysis to provide a techno-economic analysis on its feasibility as a transport fuel in New Zealand. Specifically, he calculated the demand for green hydrogen and its cost as a first step to realizing New Zealand’s hydrogen economy.

Some fun facts about Rapha:

  1. He is the first graduate of a Renewable Energy research masters at Victoria University of Wellington. He had no classmates at the start of the program and immediately proceeded with his thesis. Thankfully enough, his two supervisors were very supportive of his work.
  2. He likes going to the gym and enjoys listening to EDM and upbeat songs as he works out.
  3. Some of his closest friends know him as the bird man. He likes bird watching, which was his escape activity while studying in New Zealand.
