You know the drill. New week, new takeover! This week, we’re shining a spotlight on a young achiever–meet Marian De Chavez, a third year Computer Engineering undergraduate at the Batangas State University!
Concurrently, Marian is undergoing training in data analytics through the data scientist pathway at the Development Academy of the Philippines. Despite her age, she’s already made a difference: during her high school years at Bansud National High School Regional Science High School for MIMAROPA in 2015, she created the I Hear U app, which aims to bridge the communications gap between hearing and non-hearing Filipinos.
Like our previous Pinoy Scientists, Marian is also a mentor at the Science Integrated Direction for Highschool Investigators (SIDHI), where she guides senior high school students through research in natural language processing software.
Some fun facts about Marian:
- She likes making homemade sushi.
- She likes drawing, and was an editorial cartoonist at her high school campus journalism team.
- She likes city skating and cruising.
