Rounding off the July set of takeovers is Keziah Bartilad, a Senior Science Research Specialist at the Philippine Space Agency.
Keziah graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of the Philippines Diliman, where her final project involved the design and characterisation of directive antennas for the Wireless Identification and Sensing Platform. She then took up her Masters in Electrical Engineering at the same university as a CHED-PCARI scholar, with her thesis revolving around the design and characterisation of antennas with photovoltaic cells as antenna radiating elements.
Through the years, Keziah has held various roles, including:
- Graduate Assistant for the Philippine Scientific Earth Observation Microsatellite (PHL-Microsat)
- Supervising Research Specialist under the STAMINA4Space Program (Space Technology and Applications Mastery, Innovation and Advancement Program), where she contributed to the project’s decadal survey as input for the Philippine Space Agency’s 10-Year Mission and Technology Roadmap, among others
- Senior Lecturer at UP Diliman, where she taught classes on digital communications systems and electromagnetic fields
In her current role at the Philippine Space Agency, Keziah manages and operates satellite ground stations. Her work includes the day-to-day operations of the Diwata-2 satellite and other space assets, ground station maintenance and repair campaigns, the creation and updating of standard operating procedures, strategic research and development activities, and the procurement of necessary equipment and spare parts.
Beyond space, Keziah’s interests include:
- Collecting hobbies! She’s tried crochet, embroidery, sewing, watercolour and calligraphy, among others
- Playing board games
- Sports and other outdoor activities
Let’s all say hi and welcome Keziah to Pinoy Scientists!
