This week we’re joined by Justine “Tin” Millado, soon-to-be Doctor of Agricultural Science from Nagoya University.
Tin graduated from the University of the Philippines Visayas with a Bachelor’s in Public Health. She then took up a Master’s in Entomology at the University of the Philippines Los Banos, where she studied carnivorous mosquitoes and other pests if public health concern.
Through the MEXT scholarship, Tin then proceeded to study in Japan, with her doctoral thesis focusing on analyzing apoptosis regulation in the domestic silk moth. Concurrently, Tin is also a faculty member at Visayas State University, where she has been on study leave since commencing her PhD.
Three fun facts about Tin!
- She is an avid animal lover. She has had pets ranging from eagles, parrots, turtles, and guinea fowls, to millipedes, spiders, and praying mantises. The max number of dogs she kept at one point reached 23!
- She has been failing terribly in attempting to cook single servings, but her labmates and the entire neighborhood are not complaining!
- Tin is a lowkey ahgase and her bias is Jackson.
Let’s all welcome Tin to the Pinoy Scientists fam!
