Joseph Bandoy is a PhD student and research assistant at South Korea’s Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology.
Joseph graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics, major in Instrumentation from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) He later finished his Masters in Physics at the Ateneo de Manila University.
After graduating from his Bachelor’s, Joseph worked as an Instructor at the Laguna State Polytechnic University and UST, as well as an Assistant Professor at Mapua University. Since 2020, he has also been a Team Leader and Subject Matter for UNICEF’s Stock Knowledge platform.
Joseph’s research interests include qualitative phase imaging and physics education. He is also active in various organisations, including Pinoy Iskolars sa Korea (PIKO), Gwangju Filipino Catholic Community, Association of Filipino Educators in Korea, and Gwangju Filipino English Teachers.
Fun facts about Joseph:
- He spends more time learning languages than deriving equations. He used to translate for Duolingo nung libre pa. Ang translation daw ng isang sentence can reach up to 2000 combinations. Fun right?
- He likes to help people, even outside student affairs, kababayan man o hindi sa Korea. Otherwise, you’ll see him hiking sa weekends.
- He used to teach sa tatlong universities, Monday to Sunday. Manila sa weekdays, Laguna sa weekends. According to him, the Philippines need more Physicists teaching Physics.
