Happy New Year, Pinoy Scientists community!

For our first takeover this 2023, we’re joined by Jethro Gallardo, product engineer for GPU Chip Ops at NVIDIA Taiwan.

Jethro finished a dual degree in Physics and Materials Science and Engineering from the Ateneo de Manila University. After graduating, he then worked in several companies as a product engineer—developing products such as Amkor’s MicroLeadFrame and MEMS variants for Sonion Vietnam Co. Ltd.

Jethro then embarked on the International College of Semiconductor Technology program at Taiwan’s National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. As a graduate researcher, he focused on the reliability of GaN power devices.

Today, as a product engineer at NVIDIA Taiwan, Jethro has various responsibilities, including: analyzing product yield limiters, defining product test requirements, driving new product introduction, and continuously finding opportunities to improve the product process.

Some fun facts about Jethro:

  1. He survived a chihuahua attack as a child, and is now afraid of small dogs.
  2. He used to free-dive pre-pandemic, and plans to get back to it soon.
  3. He is driven to put the Philippines on the map of semiconductor industry!
