Kicking off March is Jayson Pasaol, a doctoral researcher at the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Poland.

Jayson graduated with a Bachelors in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Immaculate Conception. He then took up a Masters in Cancer Science and Epidemiology at the National Cancer Center of South Korea.

Just last September 2025, Jayson graduated with a PhD in Comparative and Translational Oncology from Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences. There, his dissertation focused on discovering a novel therapeutic approach for treating canine cancer.

Previously, Jayson worked as  a Lead Biomedical Laboratory Scientist in Surigao City; a Senior Researcher in Cancer Molecular Epidemiology in South Korea; an Assistant Professor at the University of Santo Tomas and a Researcher on Cell-Based Disease Modeling in Taiwan.

With his wealth of experience, Jayson’s takeover this week is one to watch!

Fun facts about Jayson:

  • He has traveled to 62 countries,  and about 80% of them were through grad school. From conferences to training to internships to collaborations, his passport is essentially a research logbook. Academia didn’t just give him a doctorate degree—it gave him the world!
  • He loves traveling without a proper plan and doesn’t travel to check boxes. He travels to be surprised. No strict itinerary. No overplanning. He prefers walking into a city, getting lost, discovering random cafés and local restaurants, and letting the place surprise him. Sometimes, no plans are the best plans!
  • TODAY (March 1st) IS HIS BIRTHDAY!!
