Here to catch your attention is Jasper Kit Tangal, a Registered Fisheries Professional currently taking up his Masters of Science in Fishery Science and Technology at the Department of Aquaculture of Kasetsart University, Thailand.

Jasper completed his Bachelor of Science in Fisheries at Northeastern Mindanao State University, studying how corn bran that has been subjected to different fermentation periods affects the growth performance and survival rate of red tilapia hybrids. While doing his undergraduate degree, Jasper interned at the Brackishwater Fish Farm. He took the Professional Regulation Commission Licensure Examination for Fisheries Professionals in 2022, placing 6th overall. Before leaving for Thailand, he served as a university instructor at his alma mater’s Department of Fisheries teaching a variety of subjects around fisheries and aquaculture.

A year after his graduation, Jasper began his Master’s degree at Kasetsart University studying Fishery Science and Technology with a specialization in aquatic animal health management. He is still completing his degree, and is working as a graduate student researcher at the university. At the moment, he is a part of the Laboratory of Aquatic Animal Health Management, the Center of Excellence in Aquatic Animal Health Management, and the Special Research Incubator Unit for Development and Application of Vaccine Delivery Systems for Aquatic Animals. He is also the Head of Public Relation at the university’s International College – International Student Club.

  • He considers himself a Jack of All Trades—He’s worked as a janitor, construction worker, fabricator, farmer, street vendor, and many more jobs to earn a living and develop a diverse skill set.
  • He started two different bachelor’s degrees—BSEd major in Physics at the University of Cebu and BS Agriculture at Caraga State University—but didn’t finish either.
