Today we’re joined by materials engineer and faculty member Jason “Pech” Pechardo.
Pech graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science from UP Diliman, and is currently taking up his Master’s degree at the same institute alongside his teaching duties.
During the pandemic, Pech put his expertise to good use–helping design and develop everything from lightweight aerial drones for emergency response to portable disinfection tools to sanitation pods for COVID-19.
Pech’s research interests revolve around composite materials, nanomaterials, materials fabrication and design as well as aerospace materials, among others. However, he also considers himself an advocate of the Maker movement–and loves to create crafts related to the horror and occult genre (think of skull lamps and chopped hand wall decors)
Unsurprisingly, Pech is an avid fan of the supernatural and the strange…as well as Muay Thai, which he got into last 2018. Now that he knows Muay Thai, Pech can “defend his thesis” in more ways than one, he says.
Let’s all say hi to Pech!
