Formerly a BS Life Sciences student at the Ateneo de Manila University. Isa is now undertaking Veterinary Biology and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Sydney.
Before moving to Sydney, Isa worked as an assistant animal caretaker at the Biodiversity Management Bureau, where her responsibilities included assisting animal handles and assisting veterinarians in necropsies and checkups. She also volunteered at Compassion and Responsibility for Animals (CARA) Welfare Philippines, where she managed the social media and tracking of adoptable cats and dogs.
As expected of a veterinarian-in-training, there was never a time in Isa’s life when she did not have a pet. In Sydney for instance, she lives with her two pet domestic rats — both of whom know six tricks each! (Demo, anyone?).
Outside of her studies, Isa was a practitioner of Wing Chun Kung Fu, though she had to stop due to the pandemic. Let’s all give Isa a warm welcome to the Pinoy Scientists family!

When Dr. Isabel Padilla first took over our page in April of 2021, she was in Sydney, Australia taking up her joint Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees while caring for her two pet domestic rats.
In the interim years, she spent time working as a Veterinary Nurse at the Balmain Veterinary Hospital and Sydney Animal Hospitals in Australia. Now, three years and two degrees richer, Isabel is a fully licensed veterinarian living in Newcastle, Australia. As an Emergency Veterinarian, she is currently working at the Newcastle Animal Referral & Emergency Centre.
