We’re closing out the month of January with a takeover by Donatela Manlongat, a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology. She is currently studying under the PGSP – Stanford PsyD Consortium program, taught by faculty from Palo Alto University and the Stanford University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, United States. While doing her studies, she is also currently working as a student therapist at LifeMoves, Santa Clara, California.

A consistent Dean’s and Chancellor’s lister, Donut graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of the Philippines (UP), Diliman. She spent a year at the UP Diliman Department of Psychology as a research assistant before pursuing graduate studies in the United States at Teachers College, Columbia University. There, she earned a Master of Arts, Psychology in Education: General Psychology while working as a graduate research assistant at the Galynker Suicide Research Laboratory in Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center and at the Positive Regard and Psychotherapy Laboratory in Teachers College, Columbia University.

Donut is now a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology under the PGSP – Stanford PsyD Consortium program where she also earned her Master of Science. She also spends her time working as a student therapist at numerous clinics around California.

Some fun facts about Donut:

  1. Prior to starting graduate school, she was an indoor spinning instructor. The experience helped her realize that being of service and helping others achieve their health and wellbeing goals are cornerstones of what she’d like to do in her work.
  2. She has two cats: Yeti and Yoongi (named after her favorite BTS member).
  3. She has been trying to learn Korean for over three years! She’s been using Duolingo (with a 1200 day streak), but she’d love to hear the ways others have reached their language learning goals better.
