Start of April on a good note with this week’s Pinoy Scientist, Dr. Dino Tordesillas, resident researcher at the Research Center for Natural and Applied Sciences at the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
Dino graduated with a Bachelor’s in Biology from UST, finishing his Master’s in Biological Sciences at the same university. His Master’s thesis revolved around the taxonomy and distribution of calanoid copepods (zooplankton) from Philippine lakes.
After a stint as an international research student at the University of Shiga Prefecture, Dino returned to UST to complete his PhD in Biological Science—with his dissertation this time focusing on the reproduction, development, and respiratory activity of the invasive Arctodiaptomus dorsalis.
Aside from his research position, Dino is an Assistant Professorial Lecturer at UST’s graduate school as well as a Junior Teacher of UST Senior High School’s STEM strand.
Some fun facts about Dino:
- He is colorblind!
- He is a Friends geek (Could this BE any more relatable? Haha)
- He used to be a soprano for the Las Piñas Boys Choir
Let’s all welcome Dino to Pinoy Scientists this week!
