Dainty Clarice Rabang

To usher in the month of June, we’re rockin’ out with Pinoy Scientist Dainty Clarice Rabang, a geoscientist working as the head of the Climate Resilient Development Section of the Palawan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Dainty graduated from the University of the Philippines in 2018, topping her graduating BS Geology class. She soon followed up this feat by taking 1st place during her Geologist Licensure Examination within the same year. She rejoined UP for her Master’s in Geology, which is still ongoing. Her study schedule isn’t the only thing keeping her busy though because she was also an instructor at UP Diliman until 2022 after which she joined Earth Materials Science Laboratories as a project manager and researcher for the Hydrogeochemical baselining of watersheds in Palawan project.

At the moment, Dainty is working towards her Masters degree in Geology while at the Palawan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. As the head of their Climate Resilient Development Section, she spends her days analyzing geohazard maps and developing plans and projects to improve community resilience.

Some fun facts about Dainty:

• She is a bike commuter – she has an e-bike and a gravel bike. The same goes for her mom and brother, as they each have their own bike and use it to travel to work/school.
• She is obsessed with Philippine textiles and local brands and produce. She specifically likes wearing clothes made of/with a touch of local textiles and fabrics to support her heritage.
• She loves watching theater, musicals, choirs, and orchestra. Her biases are the Philippine Madrigal Singers and Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. Sadly, these are now inaccessible to her as she is based in Palawan, but she’s all for supporting Philippine Theater, Culture, and Arts!
