Happy 124th Independence Day! We’re ringing in the new week with Claudeline Cellan, a Senior Statistical Specialist at the Philippine Statistics Authority.
Claud graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman. She then took up a Graduate Diploma in Econometrics from the University of Southeastern Philippines, Davao City, after which she finished a Masters of Statistics at UP Diliman.
Before working at the Philippine Statistics Authority, Claud held previous roles at the BDO Network Bank’s Consumer Research Unit, USAID E-PESO project, the Nielsen Company, and UP Manila’s National Survey on Mental Health and Wellbeing project.
Some fun facts about Claud:
- She first got into Math in the fourth grade, as her coach thought that she was competing for the Math quiz (instead of Damath). At first, she thought learning advanced math was essential to Damath training and it was too late when she realized/was told that it wasn’t.
- She used to have huge stage fright. To conquer this, she enrolled in a theater class. Talk about facing your fears!
