Ring in the month of August with our latest Pinoy Scientist, Aaron Alcala, a PhD student in Genetics at the University of Georgia!
Before entering his PhD program, Aaron took up his BS and MS in Biology at Georgia State University. For his MS thesis, he focused on understanding the neural networks responsible for movement in the model organism C. elegans. For his current PhD thesis, Aaron is studying mammal, reptile, bird limb and genital development.
Outside the laboratory, Aaron is definitely a cat person having taught his cat Jellybean about 10 different tricks. He’s also fond of playing the guitar, and can play the iconic Game of Thrones theme song on the instrument.
