Pinoy Scientists in Singapore

Dr. Ryan De Sotto is a microbiologist, environmental engineer and synthetic biologist at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Synthetic Biology for Clinical and Technological Innovation Research Programme. His current work is on engineering a probiotic organism for atopic dermatitis (eczema) treatment on top of other research projects.

Justine Dacanay is an NGS Research Fellow at the Singapore Center for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering. She manages the SCELSE Sequencing Facility, overseeing its day-to-day operations, fulfilling necessary administrative procedures, and demonstrating the work they do at the laboratory for students, stakeholders, professionals, and visitors alike.

Angelica Suarez is a PhD student taking up pharmaceutical chemistry at the National University of Singapore. Aica is undertaking the genome mining and functional studies of modifying enzymes found in certain natural product pathways.

Ven Paolo Valenzuela is a Research Fellow at the Asia Research Institute at the National University of Singapore. Paolo’s research synergizes social and natural science methods to holistically understand contemporary disaster risk reduction, climate change, and sustainable development.

Pat Lazatin is a medical student and researcher whose research focused on novel therapies that would improve post-ischemic stroke outcomes in patients.
