We hope everyone has been keeping safe and dry. This week, we’re back with another takeover: meet Claire Pascua, PhD student in Civil Engineering at the University of Auckland.
Claire graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Enginering, cum laude, from the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD). After graduating, she went on to become a lecturer at UPD and later on, a web engineer at a start-up company.
Claire then worked as a Disaster Risk Management Specialist at the Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative, where she supervised the daily activities of the Knowledge Development and Dissemination department.
Before embarking on her PhD, Claire graduated from the Master of Disaster Management program at the University of Auckland with first class honors. Today, Claire’s doctoral research revolves around the seismic performance of buildings — a topic entirely relevant in a country like the Philippines!
