Hello, Pinoy Scientists community! It’s been a while. We hope everyone has been staying safe and healthy, and we are immensely grateful to all our brave Pinoy Scientists at the frontlines against COVID-19.
With the coronavirus pandemic putting science in the spotlight, never has our mission to highlight excellent Pinoy Science and Pinoy Scientists been more relevant. And with that, we’d like to introduce you to this week’s featured scientist!
Meet Florence Basubas, a Scientific Research and Business Development consultant at a stealth startup in Seoul, South Korea. Hailing from Cebu, Florence undertook her Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences (Biochemistry) and Social Sciences (Economics and Government) at the Minerva Schools at Keck Graduate Institute, where she graduated magna cum laude last year.
Known for its unique curriculum, Minerva allows students to live and study in seven cities throughout their stay. Florence, for instance, has lived in San Francisco, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Seoul, Hyderabad, London and Taipei as a visiting student researcher.
In her current position as a consultant, Florence conducts scientific reviews and market research on the applications of the microbiome and helps develop project portfolios on the application of emerging technologies like AI, machine learning and blockchain to biomedicine.
Let’s all welcome Florence to the growing Pinoy Scientists fam!
