This week, we’re joined by the first homegrown Pinoy Gravitational Physicist Dr. Reginald (Reggie) Bernardo.
Reggie graduated with a Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD in Physics at the University of the Philippines Diliman, where he was also working as an Instructor and Assistant Professor. For his pioneering doctoral thesis, he investigated compact objects, cosmologies, and gravitational perturbations in scalar-tensor theories of gravity.
Embodying excellence all throughout, Reggie graduated magna cum laude during his Bachelor’s and received the Leticia Shahani Award for Best Undergraduate Thesis. Over the years, Reggie was duly recognised as the College of Science’s Most Outstanding Master’s and later, PhD Graduate.
Today, Reggie is a postdoctoral fellow at the Academia Sinica’s Institute of Physics. His research interests include dark energy, cosmology, alternative gravity, black holes, and gravitational waves.
Some fun facts about Reggie:
- His favorite shows include Mr. Robot and The Office US
- He loves memes and ramen (Who doesn’t?)
- He is currently watching The Boys S3 and FIDE candidates, and is now looking out for Better Call Saul’s final season part 2, Stranger Things S4 part 2, Umbrella Academy and Thor: Love and Thunder
