Joining us this week is Julius Lustro, Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman.

Julius graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from UP Diliman, after which he took up as Master of Engineering at Osaka University under the Monbukagakusho scholarship. There, his thesis characterized turbulence in terms of dynamical systems theory.

After his Masters, Julius took up an Assistant Professor position at the UP Los Baños Department of Engineering Science, where he taught various Engineering Science courses such as Statics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, and Mathematical Methods in Engineering.

Julius then returned to Osaka University to undertake a PhD in Engineering, with his dissertation building upon his Masteral work on turbulence/fluid dynamics.

In his current position as an Associate Professor at UP Diliman, Julius now teaches fluids and thermal engineering courses and has led further projects on turbulence and indoor air quality.

Other things you should know about Julius:

  • He has 13 cats at home
  • He can speak 4 languages: Filipino, English, Japanese (intermediate level), and Hiligaynon (gamay lang).
