We’re kicking off our 2026 takeovers with Anisa Pabingwit, a professional teacher taking up her PhD in Educational Science at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary. Anisa graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education (Physics) from Visayas State University in 2017, after which she took up a Master of Education (Physics) at the University of the Philippines Cebu. From 2017 to 2021, she taught at Western Leyte College in Ormoc City, Philippines. Since 2025, she has been a part-time physics instructor at her alma mater Visayas Sate University as well as a Research Coordinator at Western Leyte College.

As a testament to her multi-faceted experience as both teacher AND student, Anisa has published several articles and book chapters tackling the intercultural engagement of Asian students on the global stage. Just last year, she published an article that explored the multifaceted challenges faced by international students in Hungary — a topic surely close to her heart. Meanwhile, another book chapter published in 2022 dove into the intercultural competencies of international students with scholarships.

Some fun facts about Anisa:

  • In case it wasn’t obvious, she’s happiest when teaching! Whether it’s physics, research, or mentoring aspiring educators, the classroom is her comfort zone.
  • Travel energizes her. Living abroad for some time sparked her love for exploring different cultures, museums, and the stories behind the places she visits. She genuinely enjoys learning about other people’s cultures and history, as it deepens her understanding of the world and the connections we share.
  • She is a proud probinsyana foodie and home cook! She enjoys baking, cooking, and sharing Filipino comfort food—especially lechon baboy, sinigang, and lumpia—with friends from around the world.
