Taking over this week is Leslie Yasis, a licensed chemical engineer and PhD candidate in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).
Leslie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Philippines. After graduating, she worked as a Project Chemical Engineer for CEST Incorporated, working on feasibility studies on the commissioning of wastewater and sewage treatment plants in Manila.
In 2020, she embarked on her PhD journey at HKUST, where her research interests are focused on antimicrobial filters and bio aerosols. She also currently works as a graduate teaching assistant at HKUST for classes like Environmental Technologies, Sustainability Thinking, Circular Economy, and more.
Outside the laboratory, Leslie is a yogi and YouTuber who vlogs about her life abroad as PhD student and woman in STEM, yoga, and budgeting tips for young adults!
