Who here watches The Big Bang Theory? This week, meet the real-life equivalent of Dr. Raj Koothrappali, astronomer Marielle Eduardo.
Marielle graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from UP Baguio, after which she pursued (and recently graduated from!) a Master’s degree in Astronomy at Taiwan’s National Central University. For her graduate thesis, she hunted trans-Neptunian objects using the Hyper Suprime Cam.
Moving forward, Marielle sees herself as an expert in Solar System science–hoping to dedicate the next few years to exploring and understanding the science of Solar System formation.
Some fun facts about Marielle:
- She enjoys learning new languages, and is currently learning Chinese and Spanish
- A sporty girl, Marielle likes volleyball, swimming and muay thai. She also finished two half-marathons (21 km) twice!
